Decal woes

I am having some difficulties with my Decal working! I recently came back after a long hiatus, and wanted to get back in the saddle. After a fresh AC install (tested and verified it works), I went to get Decal to work - but only to discover I cannot get the dang program to work!

After install, I try to point it to the AC directory. I get the error message about AC being out of date. I am on my third fresh install straight from Turbine (even used the updated data files!) Here is the actual language: client version=0.0.1.1.6096 xml version=0.0.0.0

I've re-installed the Decal several times, turned off my AV software, ran as administrator... pretty much everything I've found on this board and Decal's boards. I'm fresh out of ideas! Any thoughts on how to solve this little conundrum?

Thanks,
-Marat

Can't even get that far. Once it starts running, the next error is "Cannot create Decal Object".

Forgot to mention that it crashes AC at the login page if I try to login with Decal running.

EDIT: I am running Windows 7, and none of the folders are in the Program Files directory. If there is any other pertinent information that could help troubleshoot, I'll gladly give it up!

Good suggestion! I reinstalled the DirectX files again, uninstalled Decal, and tried again with a fresh install.

I got the initial error about not having the most recent client again. When I pushed Decal through anyway, I got the "Failed to create Decal Object" from DenAgent.

I wish I could run an export for you guys to check out...

Restart your computer
Uninstall Decal
Run the Decal Cleaner twice, once normally and once as admin. http://www.decaldev.com/downloads/CleanDecalReg.exe
Reinstall Decal - select your AC folder - It will say AC is out of date, this is normal
Decal should appear on your taskbar
Launch AC to character screen and then exit the game
Open Decal by double clicking the icon on the task bar and click Update
Launch AC

Thanks for the help, HW! I uninstalled Decal, ran the register clean-up twice (once as admin, once regularly), then rebooted for good measure. I am glad to know the out-of-date message is an expected error - I was having a hell of a time trying to get rid of that one!

I reinstalled Decal, got the same error message, and tried to run AC again. I can get passed the server selection page, but ACClient crashes as soon as it opens. I also still cannot open Decal to get an export; the "failed to create decal object" message continues to pop up.

IB, I searched through those threads - thank you for finding them! - but none of the fixes from there are working. I did read that anti-virus software was causing issues for some people a few years back, but even trying that I haven't had any luck.

I know it's not a lot to go off of (not sure what the salient information is, nor how to communicate it effectively), but I greatly appreciate you guys looking into it. If there is anything else I can try, or any other ideas floating around, please let me know! When I get them time, I will try another round of fresh installs (AC, verify, reboot, decal, verify, reboot, plugins, verify, reboot), but I'm not entirely hopeful with that solution...
