General nav limiter?

I set a nav to hunt outside in the open, with monster range 25, approach 70, follow 12. This works somewhat but the approach 70 would work better if it was 70 from origin, not 70 from current character location. My character will run 70, fight and run 70 more instead of keeping it 70 centered from nav point. This causes problems (cliffs)

Is there a way to either center the 70 approach to nav point, or program a barrier where the nav won't go beyond a certain point?

I know meta is more powerful but I can't learn it, it's too complex otherwise I know that would be a good solution, setting landblocks and so forth.
