Vtank Install/Portability Issue

Hi,

I started playing again about a year ago and was a novice to decal and vtank etc. I got it to work but installed it in the non-recommended locations which I'm hoping to remedy now I've upgraded to Windows 10. I want to move it to the correct folder so I can use multi-client which presently is experiencing issues I suspect due to the fact I have the virindi bundle in the wrong location.

I uninstalled all the game and plugin files including decal & virindi, defraged, cleaned-up my disk, ran the decal cleaner, VVS cleaner and the CCleaner Utility Registry cleaner before reinstalling the AC client, then the decal client (latest) and then the virindi bundle.

Everything installs fine except vtank. The message in the "Virindi Automatic filter updater" window when I login says "Bundle Plugin vtank is not installed, re-run the bundle installer to get it". When I click on the window "close" button the AC client crashes.

The vtank folder and files have installed (I can see the files). When I unselect vtank from the decal plugins selection window I enter AC without issue.

Questions:
1. Is there something/anything in vtank which is hard-coded to "C:\Games\VirindiPlugins"? I'm using C:\AC\VirindiBundle, is this an issue? If yes, I'll reinstall everything to this.

2. Does the VVS cleaner wipe the "utank2-i.dll" file registry association? I suspect it doesn't, but I don't know where to look. Do you know where the .dll vtank association is located so I can check/edit this in "regedit"?

I have included by decal dump below for reference - I'm running Windows 10 x64.

Thanking you in advance for any assistance.

The location of the Vtank install shouldn't matter, as long as it is outside of Program Files. I am not seeing anything in your export that could be causing it problems.

I would try to reinstall again to C:\Games\VirindiBundle and see if it has any effect.

Some on Windows10 have no issues at all, others have weird problems we haven't figured out yet.

Services, 0, Decal Input Service, 2.9.7.5, C:\AC\decalInput.dll, {B33307BA-706D-474A-80B9-70BB8D13EF3E}

Try enabling that. I'm not sure what it does, but Its enabled on my installations.

Thanks for the advice HellsWrath / Saloben, unfortunately no dice.

- Tried installing everything into the C:\Games\VirindiPlugins folder, got the same error
- Tried checking the "Decal Input Service", got the same error

I installed the VirindiBundle back into the folder where it was initially installed "F:\AsheronsCall\" and it loaded successfully.

Checked all the registry entries in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Decal\Plugins and all the file associations seem to be correct.

Dunno whats going on, but looks like I cannot move from the initial install location.

Is there any logging I can check on this - decal or Asheron's call? Can't seem to locate any...

If it helps, I'm seeing the below in the "Windows Event Viewer". Looked up the "System.IO.FileNotFoundException" error and it's telling me (I could be mistaken) that something's looking for a file which is not where it thinks it is...

Ok I fixed this problem and am posting the solution here so it might help others who come across this issue.

Turbine posted this on their web-site for a similar issue - http://support.turbine.com/link/portal/ ... dException

Basically the fix here is to uninstall the .NET v1.1 framework and re-install it using the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

This worked for me.

I also tried (might solve the issue for other) the fix located here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 7a4?auth=1

Don't think this worked in my case but may do for others.

Thank you for your assistance with this.
